How to Make your Personalized Homemade Facial Moisturizing Elixir
Facial Moisturizing: A Natural Approach
FREE DIY SKINCARE WORKSHOP: SEPT 24th @ 7pm EST
If you have stepped into a store lately, you know just how expensive beauty products can be. Plus, they each have a laundry list of ingredients that you probably can’t even say!
I decided to see what all the hoopla was about concerning the highly touted “youthifying” commercial facial serums that many cosmetic companies are touting. These ½-to-1-ounce bottles of promise come at a hefty price, and after a bit of ingredient sleuthing on my part, I discovered that they consist of primarily water, synthetic skin softeners, chemical exfoliating acids, a vitamin or two, humectants, artificial fragrance, and preservatives.
So I decided to create my own natural, highly beneficial version of these serums. The result: herbal facial elixirs that your skin will literally drink! If used constantly the elixirs will definitely aid in prolonging the youthful qualities of your skin, offering a facial moisturizing experience that surpasses commercial alternatives.
The prep time is quick but plan on setting aside your elixir for one day. Have you ever heard the expression, “The sum is greater than its parts”? There’s a scientific term for that, and its’ synergy. During the next 24 hours that you let your blend rest, you are letting it synergize, to become a more powerful conditioner for your sin.
Think of the following recipe as an alternative facial moisturizing treatment for your face. Instead of applying a traditionally made cream or lotion, first, moisten your skin with your favorite toner or mister, then apply this specialized blend of pure base and essential oils. They’ll nourish on a cellular level, restore, soften, balance, hydrate, and repair damaged skin. Especially good as we come to the end of the summer. Who amongst us doesn’t need a little repair right now? As an added benefit, the aroma-therapeutic properties of this elixir will serve to calm, uplift, recharge, and soothe the mind and spirit.

Application Tips:
Immediately before bedtime and after cleansing with a natural cleanser that is right for your dosha and season, apply the appropriate toner or mister. While your skin is still damp, lightly massage 3-5 drops of elixir into the skin, beginning with the decollete, throat, then face, using upward, outward, and circular strokes. Wait five minutes before applying additional moisturizer, if desired.
