Ayurvedic Fermented Rice Water Hair Treatment with Herbs
Fermented rice water, enriched with the essence of herbs, has long been used as a hair tonic in Ayurveda and hair is considered a reflection of one’s overall health, Natural remedies like fermented rice water are valued for their mane shining and scalp infusing benefits, When we infuse the rice water with the right herbs for your dosha, this hair treatment takes it up another notch.
Balancing Doshas with Fermented Rice Water:
Ayurveda recognizes three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—as fundamental energies governing the body. Hair concerns are often linked to imbalances in these doshas. This hair treatment with fermented rice water, when infused with herbs, harmonizes these energies, promoting overall well-being. The inositol, proteins, vitamins, and minerals in the rice water contribute to the nourishment of both the scalp and hair.
Herbs for Dosha-Specific Benefits:
Each herb included in the fermented rice water brings unique properties that resonate with Ayurvedic principles:
- Horsetail (Equisetum arvense): Rich in silica, it stimulates scalp circulation, supporting healthy follicles. Ideal for all hair types, especially beneficial for oily scalps that can plage Kaphas and Pittas.
- Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia): Promotes scalp circulation and soothes occasional scalp conditions like psoriasis, eczema or dandruff. Suitable for all hair types, fostering a harmonious balance.
- Marshmallow Root (Althaea officinalis): With its mucilaginous quality, it moisturizes and softens hair, addressing the dry or brittle hair concerns of Vatas.
- Neem Leaf (Zadirachta indica): Packed with minerals, vitamin E, and essential fatty acids, it boosts scalp circulation, cleanses, and strengthens hair. Ideal for irritated scalp or dandruff issues.
- Nettle Leaf (Urtica dioica): High silica and mineral content, combined with natural astringency, supports overall scalp and hair health. Balances sebum for all hair types.
- Peppermint Leaf (Mentha x piperita): The menthol compounds stimulate the scalp, offering an invigorating boost. Particularly beneficial for oily hair and soothing irritation or dandruff.
- Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis): Known to stimulate circulation at the scalp, promoting hair health and beauty for all hair types. This is my personal favorite.
