When you wake up you are usually dehydrated, so you want to hydrate and kindle your digestive strength (agni) before eating. Here are some easy tonics for each dosha! Each of these will help fire up your digestion for the day so that your body is prepared to receive nourishment so you can feel energized all day long.

Morning Tonics for Each Dosha

Vata Tonic:
Ingredients:
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds
1 teaspoon fennel seeds

Simmer 16oz water with the cumin, coriander and fennel seeds.
Strain and drink, a few sips at a time before breakfast. Finish the rest with breakfast.
This is also a great hormone balancing tea so for you Vatas with finicky cycles- this can be a great tea for sipping all day long.

Pitta Tonic:
1 hibiscus tea bag
1 dandelion teabag
coconut sugar to sweeten.

Simmer 16oz water with the tea bags for approximately 15 minutes.
Let cool to room temperature and remove the tea bags. Pour the Pitta Tonic into a cup and add coconut sugar to taste. Sip throughout the day.

Kapha Tonic:
1/8 teaspoon dried ginger
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Squeeze lemon
1 teaspoon honey

Simmer 16oz water and add the ginger, black pepper, and lemon juice.
Let simmer for 2 minutes.
Remove from heat and add the honey.
Sip whilst still warm.
