Let’s talk about you. Our groundbreaking personalized health plan will change the way you think about health and nutrition forever.

Meet Connie. Connie is on a personalized health plan.

And living better than ever.

Connie knows it’s always the right time to make a positive change for her health and wellbeing, and she found the right changes for her, using her personalized plan that incorporated genetics and ayurveda.

With a simple guide to what her body really needs, she found what works for her and never looked back.

You’re not the same as everybody else, so why follow everybody else’s diet?

Meet Tracey and Joe. They are on a personalized health plan. And feeling great.

Tracey and Joe decided to cut the fad diets and started eating, exercising and thinking the right way for their bodies and we helped them do it.

They each uncovered their unique dietary needs and intolerances, and made long-term sustainable changes to live the best lifestyle for them.

No more one size fits all exercise programs, no more cookie-cutter nutrition plans. This is why we created our personalized health plans in the first place, and this is why we’re growing and expanding. We personalize your plan by utilizing your genetics – we use a simple saliva sample to help you unlock what’s been inside all along.

Whether you’re looking to shape up, lose weight, sleep well, reduce cholesterol or just want to eat a little healthier, your genetics hold valuable information about the best way to do this, just for you.

We believe there is no such thing as a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Long-term vitality and wellbeing should be personal, not general – we guarantee this with our personalized health plans.

Our science, your DNA

We are all different, and a part of this difference is a result of your genetic profile.

Genetically, there are the differences that we all see, such as eye and hair color, but there are also the differences we don’t see, how we metabolize nutrients for example, the way we deal with toxins, how well we react to different types of exercise – we all interact with the environment in our own unique way.

Genetically we are almost identical, but in each gene there are points of variation. The most common type of variation is a single base change at a particular position – this variation is called a Single Nucleotide Polymorphism, or SNP for short (pronounced ‘snip’).

It is in the combination of these tiny differences that we define our individuality, who we are.

But genes are not the whole picture, they don’t work alone and they don’t determine everything about us.

Genes interact with our environment – and who you are in your environment is what Ayurveda calls your constitutional type or dosha. We can change our environment according to our own unique type and thus change our genetics. Modifying the environment modifies our “phenotype” – the way we are (e.g. a fair skinned person will only suffer from sunburn if she/he stays in the sun too long).

Because we have some control over our environment (in our case nutritional choices and lifestyle changes) we therefore can work to create the best phenotype for our lifestyle.

At The Holistic Highway we focus our work specifically on these two realms of science – modern genetic testing and the ancient wisdom of ayurveda, with the result of helping you feel your best.

Now it’s your turn – this is how it works

1. Sign up for your Complimentary Consultation

When you sign up, you’ll be taken to a short Intake Form so we can best decide how to utilize our time based upon your health challenges. You then book a time to chat with us.

2. Get Your Personalized Health Plan

When you come in to a personalized health plan with us you’ll receive a DNA kit so you can provide a saliva sample. You then mail your sample to the lab, where The Holistic Highway interprets your genetic data into meaningful fitness or nutrition insights, to help you discover more about yourself and make better informed decisions about your wellness and health.

3. Start your genetically personalized health plan

Using our easy to understand Transformational Wellness Plans, we help you be the best you can be. Then take action, with our genetically personalized health, wellness and nutritional plans that are incorporated into one Blueprint that is right for you. A Blueprint that you can use for the rest of your life.

DNA testing opens up a world of possibilities. Despite the excitement, there are some controversies surrounding clinical and at-home genetic testing, most of which are founded on myths and misconceptions. To help you better understand DNA testing, Dynamic DNA Labs (the lab we use) has debunked a couple of these misconceptions.

Myth #1. DNA Testing Requires a Blood Sample

Although taking a blood sample is one DNA testing method, most genetics labs choose another method. Technology has advanced enough that we can now extract DNA from a saliva or a cheek swab. Generally, genetics labs will ask for a cheek swab sample, which makes the process quick, convenient, and painless.

Myth #2. Ancestry DNA Testing is Only for Men

Ancestry DNA tests are a great way to explore your ethnic roots and get started on genealogy work, but many people believe that these tests are only available to men. This is because some ancestry DNA tests trace Y-Chromosomes, which are passed from father to son. These tests are known as Y-DNA tests and while they are one method of genealogy testing, they are not the only option. In fact, mtDNA tests, which trace matriarchal lines, are available for both men and women. Autosomal tests are also available to both men and women because they trace DNA found on non-sex chromosomes.

Myth #4. Your Genetic Information is Not Secure

This is perhaps the biggest concern people have with DNA testing. Luckily, this cannot be further from the truth. By participating in a DNA test, your information will not be put into a public database and your information cannot be accessed by employers or health insurance companies. In fact, this is prohibited by federal law.

Your information can be accessed by other people who do DNA testing only if you allow it.

We use Dynamic DNA Labs which is a state-of-the-heart DNA testing laboratory that specializes in DNA fitness testing, ethnicity testing, paternity testing, and more. It is incredibly exciting that we live in a world where we can use this kind of technology to come up with a personalized, comprehensive wellness plan that meets your specific health needs. Whether you are looking to develop a personalized exercise plan or work on a nutritional plan that is finally right for you, our experienced team here at The Holistic HIghway can help.
