Papaya Salad: Thai Som Tam

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cup shredded green papaya
  • 1 cup shredded carrot
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ½ cup long beans, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1-2 red chilies, chopped (adjust for spiciness)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1-2 tbsp palm sugar or brown sugar
  • ¼ cup roasted peanuts
  • ¼ cup dried shrimp (optional)
  • Toppings Fresh cilantro and mint leaves for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the ingredients
  • Make the dressing in a small bowl
  • Combine the vegetables in a large mixing bowl
  • Toss with dressing
  • Add Peanuts and Shrimp
  • Transfer the salad to a serving plate. Garnish with fresh cilantro and mint leaves before serving.

Notes

Additional Tips:
  • Adjust the number of chilies according to your preferred level of spiciness.
  • For a vegetarian version, omit the fish sauce and dried shrimp, and replace with soy sauce.
  • If green papaya is not available, you can substitute it with cucumber or daikon radish for a similar texture.
